Step 4 is the business end of the process and MINC Risk Services will work with the client and their staff to assist in the development of Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, etc in order to ensure compliance with and fulfilment of the legislative requirements for Implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

Importantly it involves putting selected control measures in place at your workplace. This means undertaking those activities necessary to allow the measures to function or operate effectively.

Implementing control measures involves:

  • Developing Policies and Work Procedures

Develop the documents necessary in relation to the new control measures to make sure they are effective. Management, supervision and worker responsibilities may need to be clearly defined in the work procedures. For example, in relation to the use of machine guarding, the manager’s role may involve making sure the appropriate guarding is purchased and that it is installed correctly, the supervisor’s role may involve making sure the workers operate the machine only with the guarding in place, some workers’ role may involve using the machine with guarding in place as instructed and other workers’ role may involve the maintenance of the machine and guarding.

  • Communication

Together with the client, MINC Risk Services will assist with the informing of workers and others about the control measures to be implemented. It is important to clearly communicate the reasons for the changes.

  • Providing training and instruction

Legislation requires that the client provides adequate training and instructions for all staff including the field, office and others roles in relation to the new control measures. MINC Risk Services shall work with the client to identify what training is necessary and shall discuss their options for rolling this training out over a given time frame.

  • Maintenance

Maintenance relating to control measures is an important part of the implementation process. Work procedures should spell out maintenance requirements to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the new control measures.

As with the previous 3 steps, we nominate the final point as a “HOLD POINT”. This identifies the need for the actions to be reviewed and closed out before moving onto the next Step.

The list and combination are extensive. With each combined service receive a minimum 10% discount off the total services fee.

MINC Risk Services look forward to helping answer your questions and developing your business to the new highs in the area of Health & Safety.
